Julian Sonner is the new President of Platform MAP
Julian Sonner, Professor of Theoretical Physics at the University of Geneva, starts in 2026 as new President of the Platform MAP. He succeeds Ernst Meyer, Professor of Physics at the University of Basel, who served as President for seven years from 2019 to 2025.
Julian Sonner already served in the Presidium of the Platform MAP for four years and is now assuming the presidency during an exciting phase, in which research funding in Switzerland is under pressure and technological developments in artificial intelligence are significantly changing the daily work of researchers.
The Platform MAP is very thanksful to Ernst for his long-term commitment as President and warmly welcomes Julian as new President addressing him best wishes for a successful start!
