This lecture series is established in honour of the eminent logician, mathematician and philosopher of logic and mathematics Paul Bernays who was engaged in teaching and research at the ETH from 1933 to 1959.

Scott Joel Aaronson is an American theoretical computer scientist. He is David J. Bruton Jr. Centennial Professor of Computer Science at the University of Texas at Austin and the founding director of UT Austin's new Quantum Information Center. His primary areas of research are quantum computing and computational complexity theory.

All lectures are given in English and are self-contained. Lecture 1 is aimed at a general audience; lecture 2 and 3 address the scientific community.
