Which types of vaccines against Covid-19 are currently relevant for Switzerland?
So far, the mRNA vaccines made by Moderna (Spikevax®) and Pfizer/BioNTech (Comirnaty®), the vector vaccine of Johnson & Johnson (Ad26.COV2-S, COVID-19 Vaccine Janssen) as well as the protein vaccine made by Novavax (Nuvaxovid®) are available in Switzerland.
All vaccines are also approved for booster vaccinations.
In addition, mRNA vaccines specifically adapted for the Omicron variant by Moderna (Spikevax® Bivalent Original/Omicron (mRNA-1273.214)) as well as Pfizer/Biontech (Comirnaty® Bivalent Original / Omicron BA.1 (Tozinameran / Riltozinameran)) are also authorized as booster vaccines.
Both CureVac, with its mRNA vaccine CVnCoV, and AstraZeneca with its vector vaccine Vaxzevria®, have meanwhile withdrawn their applications for authorisation from Swissmedic.
